Privacy notice
How we handle personal information about patients, prospective patients, and visitors to this website. This notice is written in plain English; the underlying obligations come from UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are
Silver Tree Dental Ltd, trading as SilverTree Dental, is the data controller responsible for personal information collected through this website and through your relationship with the practice. You can contact us at 778 Fishponds Road, Fishponds, Bristol, BS16 3TX or via our contact page.
What we collect
We collect personal information in three main ways:
- Enquiries through the website. When you submit our contact form we collect your name, email address, optional phone number, treatment interest, contact preference, and the content of your message.
- Patient records. Once you become a patient, we collect clinical information needed to provide your care: medical and dental history, examination findings, diagnostic imaging, treatment plans, consent records, and notes from each appointment.
- Website analytics. If you accept analytics cookies, we collect aggregated usage data through Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. With cookies declined, only privacy-preserving, non-identifying signals are sent.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
- To respond to enquiries: our legitimate interest in replying to people who have contacted us, and in some cases your consent.
- To provide dental care: performance of our contract with you and, for clinical records, the provision of healthcare under UK GDPR Article 9(2)(h).
- To meet our legal obligations: retention of clinical records, accounting records, and complaints records as required by UK law and by our regulators (CQC, GDC).
- To improve the website: only with your consent for non-essential cookies.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where necessary, and only with organisations that have appropriate safeguards in place. This may include:
- Specialist clinicians or laboratories involved in your care, with your knowledge.
- Our practice management software provider, hosting providers, and email provider.
- Regulators such as the CQC and GDC, where they require it.
- Professional advisers (accountants, solicitors) under duties of confidentiality.
We never sell personal information.
How long we keep it
Clinical records are retained for the period required by NHS England / BSA retention guidance (typically 11 years from the date of last treatment, or until age 25 for child patients — whichever is longer). Enquiry messages from this website are retained for up to 24 months. Cookie-based analytics data follows the retention windows of the respective providers.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Be informed about how we use your data — that’s the purpose of this notice.
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate information corrected.
- Request erasure, where lawful.
- Object to processing or restrict it.
- Withdraw consent for any processing that relies on it.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) at any time.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to make the site work and, with your consent, to understand how it is used. See our cookie notice for the full breakdown and to change your preferences.
